About Our
Members
Members are spread across the eastern part of the United
States and Canada. In addition to members from this
geographical area of North America, we also have members
from across the continent and the world. Though we have
rallies like other RV clubs, one of the primary reasons
for the existence of GMCES is the dissemination of
technical and supportive information. To that end, each
rally always includes several technical presentations as
well as other activities that can be enjoyed by all
attendees.
The
Membership Fee
Dues are payable and due on January 1 of each year. Dues
and initiation fee (if any) may be set each year as
determined by the club. For 2010 dues for all members,
new or returning, will be $20. There will be no
initiation fee accessed in 2010 for new members. Also,
according to the Standing Rules, membership fees paid
after October 1 of any year will be valid through
December 31 of the following year. For instance, if a new
member joins the club and pays the dues on October 15,
2009 the club shall consider that member in good standing
through the balance of 2010. Also note that GMCES
requires that any member also retain membership in FMCA.
As an affiliate Eastern States is recognized as being
fully incorporated according to the bylaws and guidelines
of FMCA.

Stay in Touch through
Google Groups
At a GMCES meeting, Ken Henderson agreed to create a
mailing list to facilitate dissemination of information
and announcements to the membership. A secondary reason
for creating an online membership group is to provide a
way for members to exchange GMC MotorHome and
GMCES-related information. For several reasons, that task
has been delayed until now.
As of October 2008 we now have an Eastern States group at
Google Groups. It’s simply called “GMCES Mailing List.”
Through it members can send or receive information
through the group page without having to know the names
or email addresses of everyone else. To join the group go
to:
http://groups.google.com/group/gmces-mailing-list
There, you'll find clear
instructions on how to apply for membership in the group.
If you aren’t already a member of Google (have a Google
Account), you can follow the link to accomplish that
necessary task.
Shortly after you apply you’ll receive an email
announcing your application (since the announcement comes
from the domain, Gmail.com, be sure your email doesn’t
recognized it a Junk). As soon Ken Henderson can reply to
that, you'll have full access to the GMCES Mailing List.
During the next phase of joining members can then set the
preferences for how you'd like to receive messages, etc.
Officers of GMCES have high hopes for improving our club
by the use of this communication technique. However, it
can only be effective with your cooperation:
everyone needs to sign up, and maintain
their correct email address. Maintenance status of your
membership will be accomplished only by each of
you.
While some people are very leery of
Gmail fearing that spam or
other unwanted email will become a problem, please be
aware that your email settings won’t be made available
because the group is set up as a private group for
members only that are in good standing. So, go ahead sign
up and participate as a member.
