2008 Spring Rally Held at Wales West

The most recent gathering of GMCES was April 24-28, 2008 at Wales West Train & Garden Lovers RV Resort. Though only about 18 motorhomes were represented those present reported that the event was of the highest quality. As usual, some were able to come early and some stayed after the rally. Others went on to the Dixielander's annual Bean Station rally in Tennessee.

Wales West Ad
Serving as Rallymaster was Fred Veenschoten who was ably assisted by John Nicholls. Fred, who's also a steam engine buff, used his “inside” connections to arrange the great rally which included the use of their building and repair pit. Dave Marchiando, technical leader for the club, arranged for several, excellent technical sessions. Ken Henderson was also given with the opportunity to lead a presentation on the new dash he built in his 23-foot Birchaven. Joe Ekl led a session on rebuilding the steering column using parts from an Olds Toronado.

In addition to the pit and technical sessions, there were also the standard activities everyone has come to expect; table games, visiting, making new friends, eating potluck and catered meals, and enjoying ice cream time.
